Discounts on Your Next Car Rental

Virtually all car rental agencies offer some form of senior
discount. While some rental agencies may require membership in a senior association,
most will typically extend that discount to non-members as well.
Discounts can range anywhere from 5% to 30% off the rental companies
standard rates. Most of the discounts offered are good for those 50 years of age
and older, but there are a few that may require one to be 60 years or older.
Car rental agencies are continually offering special offers
and promotions, and although most guarantee they will provide you the best deal,
it is always smart to compare the rates of the current special with those of the
senior discount. Most car rental agencies will not display their senior rate or
senior discounts information on their web sites so you must either have a promotional/coupon
code to enter on the web site or call the company's toll free number.
If you plan to travel abroad, most car rental agencies will
provide the same senior discount as in the States, but in many countries the rate
will actually increase for those people over 70 years of age.

Alamo (800-354-2322)
Alamo provides a discount of up to 10% to members of SeniorDiscounts. Alamo also
states that they offer other discounted rates for those 50 years of age and older.
They do not state the amount of the discount, as it changes periodically.
Avis (800-331-1212)
Avis provides a standard 10% discount to members of SeniorDiscounts. They also offer
promotional rates of 10% off SuperValue Daily and Weekly rates and 5% off SuperValue
Weekend rates to members of AARP.
Budget (800-527-0700)
Budget provides a standard 10% discount to members of SeniorDiscounts. They also
offer promotional rates of 10% off Standard Daily, Weekly and Weekend rates to members
of AARP.
Dollar (800-800-4000)
Members 50 years and older can save up to 10% on most rentals with Dollar's Silver
Dollar Club. Members also receive unlimited rental car mileage and there is no charge
for additional drivers listed on the car rental agreement.
Enterprise (800-261-7331)
Enterprise offers a free upgrade to people over the age of 50. The upgrade is valid
on all vehicles up to a full size car and is subject to availability. Mention that
you are 50 years or older when picking up the vehicle.
Hertz (800-654-3131)
AARP members receive 15% off Hertz Daily Member Benefit Rates and 10% off their
Standard Rates. They also recommend comparing the AARP rates with other rates, as
lower sale prices may be available.
National (800-227-7368)
National offers discounted rates for those 50 years of age and older.
To receive
the discount one must call the reservation department. AARP members also save from
5%-30% off National's daily, weekend, weekly and monthly Leisure Rates in the United
States and Canada.
Thrifty (800-847-4389)
Drivers 55 and older receive 5% or more off the rental rate.
